Established in 1989 after the publication of the first book on the subject of 'Sports Massage', written by Mel Cash (which was published in 1988) Mel established the LSSM in central London. The massage school has been operating for 36 years.

Over time Sports Massage evolved into Remedial massage & eventually Soft Tissue therapy so naturally the LSSM followed these advances in treatment & tequniques by improving it's qualification specification allowing the school to offer an industry leading BTEC Level 5 course. The LSSM (and ISRM) massage course is the most advanced Sport & remedial massage course available in the UK.

The ISRM BTEC qualification is well regarded and will improve your opportunities of finding a position with a suitable employer, or perhaps you plan tosetup your own practice where you will be able to proudly display your BTEC certificate on your practice wall.

In addition to the Level 5 diploma course we also offer 'an Introduction to sports massage' (weekend) course and a upgrade to Level 5 from a level 4 (or equivalent) course which is ideal for therapists who are serious about their career is massage therapy and along with other ISRM schools we also offer Continued Professional Development (CPD) courses.

LSSM have carefully designed courses to meet the needs of mature (non-school leaver) students who are looking for a new career which is why we run part-time courses at weekends spread over a longer period of time. The weekend classes are devoted mostly to teaching hands-on practical skills which can only be learned properly in a classroom along with other students and experienced tutors. The underpinning theory is now taught online so students can fit this in with their lives better.
